Werder Bremen welcomes Nurnberg
Werder Bremen welcomes Nurnberg in a match from the third round of the German Bundesliga. Let’s have a look.
Werder started the new season with 4 points from the first two rounds. In their first game, they made a 1-1 draw at home against Hannover 96, which was followed by a 2-1 win away from home against Eintracht Frankfurt. Yuya Osaka opened the score for Werder, but Sebastien Haller equalized for Eintracht. Werder’s winning strike came in the 96th minute of the match when Milot Rashica put the ball behind Kevin Trapp’s back and gave Werder the win.
Nurnberg is one of the newcomers in the Bundesliga this season. They are currently 13th in the league standings, having won just one point since the start of the campaign. In the first round, they suffered a 0-1 defeat during the visit to Hertha, which was followed by a 1-1 draw at home against Mainz 05. Jean Mateta opened the score for Mainz, but Mikael Ishak saved the point for the newcomers with a goal in the first minutes of the second half.
As newcomers, Nurnberg’s main goal this season is going to be the survival. The club would like to keep its place in the Bundesliga for another year. If they can do something more than this, then it would be even better.
As for Werder, last season, they finished 11th in the standings. It’s still not clear if they have enough potential to fight for European qualifications. But entering the Top 10 would be a good progress for them.
This is our look at the Bundesliga clash between Werder Bremen and Nurnberg from the third round of the league. Werder will aim to achieve their second win for the new season, while Nurnberg will look for their first.
