Tottenham Hotspur faces West Ham United

Tottenham Hotspur faces West Ham United on Tuesday night in a match from the 31th round of the Premier League.

Tottenham had a difficult task in their first game since the COVID-19 pandemic. Spurs had to face at home Manchester United and they were 9 minutes away from winning, but the match ended with a 1-1 draw. Steven Bergwijn opened the score for Tottenham after a great solo effort, but Bruno Fernandes equalised for United with a penalty kick in the 81th minute.

With this draw Tottenham remain 8th in the league standings wtih 42 points. For Jose Mourinho’s team this was a great opportunity to move closer to United and the 5th place, but the Londoners were unable to use it.

Harry Kane and Son Heung-Min returned in action for Tottenham, but it was not enough for the win. Jose Mourinho left players like Ndombele, Alderweireld and Verthongen on the bench, while only Lo Celso and Gedson Fernandes entered the pitch as substitutes. We shall wait and see if Mourinho is going to make some more rotations for the next game.

West Ham United returned to action with a defeat at home. David Moyes’ team hosted Champions League contenders Wolverhampton Wanderers at the London Stadium and got outperformed for a 0-2 defeat. The Hammers remain in a very difficult situation, because they are too close to the relegation zone now. Every game is going to be like a final for West Ham in the remaining rounds of the season.

Tottenham Hotspur are the obvious favourite against West Ham in this game at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium. West Ham are in a serious crisis, so for Spurs that’s an opportunity to move closer to the Top 5 and reignite its ambitions for a return to the Champions League.
