Genoa hosts Juventus

Genoa hosts Juventus at the Luigi Ferraris in a match from the 11th round of Serie A. The champions are looking in a good shape right now, but let’s preview it.

Genoa approach this game from the relegation zone of the league which is not good, of course. Right now the Grifoni are 19th in the standings with 6 points won and they are three points behind the 17th Fiorentina. Rolando Maran’s team won just one of its 10 matches in the league so far which puts them in a very dangerous position.

Last week Genoa at least stopped their run of consecutive losses in the Serie A. The team faced Fiorentina at the Artemio Franchi and the game ended with a 1-1 draw. Marko Pjaca opened the score for Genoa just one minute before the end, but the Grifoni were unlucky to concede a goal in the 98th minute.

Juventus still have some catching up to do in the Serie A. Right now the Bianconeri are 4th in the standings with 20 points which puts them 6 points behind the leaders AC Milan. Juve are still unbeaten in the league, but they made some mistakes in the matches played so far.

During the week Juventus seriously increased their confidence with a 3-0 win over Barcelona in the Champions League. Andrea Pirlo’s boys made a terrific performance at the Camp Nou. Cristiano Ronaldo scored two penalties for the Bianconeri while Weston McKennie scored once as well.

That’s our preview for the Serie A game between Genoa and Juventus on Sunday. We believe Juve are in a pretty good mental shape at the moment after their performance against Barcelona. That’s exactly what Juve needs right now as they are still adapting to their new manager Andrea Pirlo’s ideas. What they showed against Barca was a huge step in the right direction, though.
